I adore bone broth. It has helped me heal in a myriad of ways and it tastes great! I drink it out of a mug. Once you make this stuff, youll never buy that bland, unhealthy canned/boxed stuff again.
Without bone broth, I would still be avoiding gluten and nightshades, and would still be despising my food options in general. Bone broth is soothing and nourishing for your gut, so food issues can be greatly improved with regular bone broth consumption. It worked wondera for me!
Most people throw away everything they need to create healthful, healing and wonderful tasting soups, and then buy bland, chemical filled, sterile junk broth.
Its a travesty people. A real fat American travesty.
Don't throw your bone broth away before its born. Let it live. Let it heal you. It tastes amazing and if you can boil water, you can make it too.
Here's how:
Get out your housewives wonder tool (Crock pot) or stock pot. Throw in your clean veggies, rough cut with everything on. Carrots, Onion and garlic (including their papers), celery with tops, etc. Add the chicken carcass that was leftover from dinner, a few bay leaves, peppercorns, high quality salt (we use light grey celtic sea salt) and most importantly, a tablespoon of ACV or lemon juice to help break down the bones. Cover with water and run your crock pot on low for 6-12 hours or, if using a stock pot, simmer for 3-4 hours. This is called meat broth. It is flavorful and good for you, but not as good as bone broth!
To make bone broth, run the bones a second time, adding more of the same ingredients as before (but using the same carcass). Let this run on low in the crock pot for 8-12 hours or simmer in a stock pot for 4-6 hours.
Then, strain off the liquid and reserve for soups, freeze, or enjoy it right out of a mug:)
But what about the nasty mess thats left? You can use that too!
